I grew up in Southern California, but I’ve always felt like I belonged in the South. Maybe it’s in my roots — my great-grandmother Flo owned a little Southern-style café, and I’ve loved comfort food and hospitality ever since. I have always loved baking and to me there is nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread just out of the oven or a pile gooey chocolate chip cookies. For me, life is best when it’s shared around a table with good food and good company.
I’m a single mom of four amazing kids, and my journey has been full of twists and turns. Two years after losing our home in a fire and my 25 year marriage ending, we packed up and moved across the country to start over here in Franklin, Tennessee. As difficult as starting over is, moving to Tennessee has been the best thing we have ever done. This past season has taught me so much about resilience, gratitude, and finding joy in the simple things — like a warm meal, good friends, and a fresh batch of homemade granola.
I believe food should be both healthy and delicious — made with organic, clean ingredients you can feel good about. That’s the heart behind Happy Mama: to make wholesome granola and thoughtful gifts that bring comfort, joy, and connection to others.
More than anything, I believe happiness is a choice. No matter what life throws our way, we get to decide how we show up. My hope is to spread a little love and light through the work I do — and one day, to open a shop where I can create community and help other women start their own small businesses too.
Life is a gift, and I’m so grateful to share a little piece of mine with you.
With love,
Diane
